Craig Albee became FDSW's Executive Director/Federal Defender in 2016. He has been with the office since 2011 and previously served as senior litigator. Before joining FDSW, Craig practiced criminal defense in Milwaukee with Glynn, Fitzgerald & Albee, S.C., and Shellow, Shellow & Glynn, S.C. He is a 1990 cum laude graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School and also clerked for the Hon. William A. Bablitch on Wisconsin's Supreme Court.

Krista Halla-Valdes is FDSW's First Assistant Federal Defender. She joined our office in 2006 after serving eight years as an Assistant Federal Defender in the Southern District of Florida. Krista began her legal career with Black, Srebnick & Kornspan, P.A., a criminal defense firm in Miami. Krista is a 1995 cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University.

Guy Cardamone joined the FDSW in 2024. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati College of law in 2012, Guy spent the next 12 years as a state public defender, first, in Miami, Florida, and then, in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to representing clients, Guy was the statewide training coordinator at the Wisconsin Public Defender from 2019-2024, and since 2021 has been a faculty member of the National Criminal Defense College.
Matthew Giesfeldt

Matthew Giesfeldt joined the FDSW in 2024. Immediately prior to joining FDSW, Matthew spent almost nine years as an assistant state public defender in both the Madison trial and the Madison appellate offices. Matthew is a 2012 cum laude graduate of the University of Wisconsin law school, and he also earned his master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin in 2010.
Jonathan Greenberg

Jonathan Greenberg joined FDSW in 2022. A magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, he clerked for the Hon. Robert J. Luck in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Public Defender with the Miami Dade County Public Defender’s Office for eight years.

Alex Vlisides joined FDSW in 2021. A graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, he clerked for the Hon. Edward J. Cleary, Chief Judge for the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Immediately prior to joining FDSW, Alex was with the Office of the Federal Defender for the Northern District of Alabama.
